Very well written, great conclusion. I have to add too that the hypocrisy here is a bit hard to take. America has a long history of racism, and for commentators to even to suggest that this is a thing of the past is in itself laughable.

There are many countries around the world, and nationalities living in America, who would suggest America has it in for them in a seriously racist way, and this rough list of hate groups in America tends to contradict the holier than thou attitude they are currently trying to portray. http://www.splcenter.org/intel/map/hate.jsp

But the point is, the skit wasn't racist. It wasn't very good, but that's not the issue. We have become so politically correct, that the very act of being politically correct could also be construed as being racist. It's all getting very silly :o)

Hi, you should speak with Hedley Somerville who wrote a book about Ginger Meggs "A taste of Ginger" - his father Charles Somerville was a mate of Jimmy Bancks Ginger Meggs was reportedly based on Charles - the Somerville family where pioneers of Hornsby and Charles owned the local produce store near the railway (now Mitre 10) and Charles went on to lead the Hornsby Shire - was also well known in cricket.

Hedley is distantly related to me and I am sure he would be pleased to speak to you.

Contacts are: (02) 9477 7514 (Home) Hedley or failing that his sister Pat (Patricia Somerville) (02) 9456 4550
